Labor in Douglas-Coffee County and Southeast Georgia includes technical and skilled labor for advanced manufacturing and technology.

We are a regional commercial and employment hub in a predominantly rural part of the state, but with more than 275,000 workers within a one-hour drive.
Many employees in Douglas-Coffee County get their initial job training through an organic process that begins with the highly regarded Coffee County School System, including the Wiregrass Regional College & Career Academy (WRCCA), which is a partnership between Coffee County School System, Wiregrass Technical College, and a number of industry partners. WRCCA students participate in rigorous, self-paced academics with career-based learning opportunities, including opportunities for dual enrollment where they can earn college and high school credits simultaneously.
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, has been promoting community, educational, and economic development by providing a highly trained workforce in an 11-county service area and beyond since 1963. The college offers associate degrees, diplomas, and technical certificates of credit; customized training for new and existing industries; professional and personal development through continuing education programs; and adult education services to meet the needs of citizens, businesses, and industry.
South Georgia State College (SGSC), a residential state college of the University System of Georgia serving approximately 1,800 students at its Douglas campus, is also part of the workforce pipeline in the region. SGSC offers five bachelor's degrees in biological sciences, management, nursing, early childhood/special education, and mechanical engineering technology. Associate degrees are also offered in 20 transfer pathways of study.
New and expanding businesses in Douglas-Coffee County may qualify for free pre- and post-employment training for employees through Georgia’s Quick Start program, consistently recognized in the top three of training programs in the U.S.
Pre-employment training is available using industry-specific certificate programs administered through Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.
Post-employment training through the Quick Start program is customized to the specific needs of a company. This process involves conducting a training needs analysis of the jobs within the company, developing a detailed training plan, and finally, conducting the training.
Quick Start covers two comprehensive areas: manufacturing and distribution and service/back-office training. Quick Start is designed to be flexible and to respond immediately to each company's needs. Training can take place at the company’s Coffee County facility or at a location arranged by Quick Start. The training schedules are also very flexible.
